Brain Food: Ideas to Digest

“Always make new mistakes.”

From Women Who Run With the Wolves: “There will come a time when you are sitting in the ashes of who you were, and you know you must go on from there.”

What do you know is true and good about you? Maybe it is simply that you keep trying- that right there makes you a person of deep value. Know your core attributes, return to them as your centering anchor.

You and your life are NOT a problem to be solved. Life is, “trying things to see what works”- exploring the empty pieces of the puzzle, not completing every little piece the way the directions say.

The wise voice is the still small quieter one. The loud angry one ordering you around is the defensive one that you’ve created to protect yourself. You don’t need it anymore. Wait for it to pass, push through it.

What if there was nothing to lose? Would you act / be / think differently? How?

Try to have back up plans, create them habitually so you don’t feel largely unprepared. What is your Plan B? Will you be OK with that?

If you’re ready to dig deep, consider this: you’re not allowed to say “I don’t know.” Sit, wait, think, push through, and find an answer. That phrase, that way of dealing with your life is unacceptable, unless you’re explaining spirituality or love, which are by nature, ineffable.

Don’t let the “perfect” be the enemy of the “good.” Do what you can.

“Refusing to receive leaves us chronically empty, prone to addiction, obsession, codependency, or psychological hunger. Learn to receive wisely. No matter what happens, keep your heart open. The worst that can happen is that only hope is left, when the demons fly out. Start small, practice with no strings attached. “ (unknown author)

Thank yourself for your own gifts. Don’t be humble, accept your gifts, your talents.

Re: body image. A tree is a tree. A body is a body. There are many body shapes, and tree shapes, they are all beautiful (Eve Ensler).
